Life on Mars - post modernism

Some of the main ideas of post modernism are that in media-saturated World post-modernists claim we are constantly immersed in media 24/7, on the move at work at home, the distinction and between reality and the media representation of it becomes blurred or even entirely invisible to us, we no longer have any sense of the difference between real things and images of them. Post-Post modern media rejects the idea that any media product or text is of any greater value than another. All judgments are taste, anything can be art, anything can reach an audience.

One example in life on Mars of post-modernism is that Sam Tyler maybe dreaming up the early 1970s while in a coma from his hospital bed because he hears different voices which made him think back to his life in the 2000s, when he is watching TV the man starts to him but he is unsure of who this is because he did not expect the TV to talk specifically towards him so he is unsure of what is real and what is hyperreal.

Also, the end of the first episode there are many things which Sam Tyler has to take into account about what actions he is going to take, as he is unsure what is really more as he is unsure what is really more he does not know who to listen to and he feels that different characters in the 1970s are different consciences in his head.
