Postmodern notes

What is postpodernism? - Postmodern media rejects the idea that any media product or text is of any greater value than another. All judgements of value are merely taste.  - Anything can be art, anything can deserve to reach an audience, and culture ‘eats itself’ as there is no longer anything new to produce or distribute.  - The distinction between media and reality has collapsed, and we now live in a ‘reality’ defined by images and representations – a state of simulacrum. Images refer to each other and represent each other as reality rather than some ‘pure’ reality that exists before the image represents it – this is the state of hyper-reality.  - All ideas of ‘the truth’ are just competing claims – or discourses and what we believe to be the truth at any point is merely the ‘winning’ discourse. - Postmodernism is also said to reflect modern society's feelings of alienation , insecurity and uncertainties concerning identity, history, progress and truth, and the break-up

Kano-  P's and Q's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mznv4ACjkzc Artist :  Kano Album :  Home Sweet Home Released :  2005 Genre :  Dance/electronic Recorded :  2004-05 Label :  679 Recordings Lyrics :  http://songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858566438/ . The purpose of this music video is to show how Kano is when he is about in London and when he is alone, because agt the start of this music video we can see how Kano is approached by a number of people but he isn't bothered by this. We then go on to find out that he is going to meet other people who he is friends with. He knows that these people will have his back if he is ever in a bad situation. Goodwin's theory can be applied to this video becuase the lyrics is reflected in the video, the lyrics are about how when he is alone he is still fine and that people do like him and this is reflected when there are being trying to get rude to him but he isn't bothered by i

Andrew Goodwin's Music Video Theory Video

Andrew Goodwin's Theory 5 key aspects: 1- Thought through beat 2- Relationship between the song and visuals 3- Narrative and performance of the song 4- Technical aspect of a music video 5- Star image 1... The first step of this process is to analyse the music structure understanding the chorus and verses.  Then the second step (main voice of the song), the voice of the artist would be very unique compared to others and will give the person a form of identification that can be related to the star image or singer.  The third step would be the story of an artist which he is trying to tell in his song. It can establish him as a storyteller. And the music video can aid this by showing us the video through the vocals of the song. 2... There are three ways visuals are used to promote a song : Illustrate: Music videos use certain images & shots to illustrate/explain the meaning of lyrics to their song and the genre.  Disjuncture: Is this situation, the meaning

Peer Writing Task

Discuss the ways in which media products are produced and distributed to audience. Referring to either Straight Outta Compton or I, Daniel Blake to support your answers In I, Daniel Blake the two distributors are eOne films (UK) and Le Pacte (France). This is different from the Hollywood film industry as there is no use of vertical integration in Britain this means that independent films have to find their own distribution companies to distribute their films in different companies. For instance Entertainment one distributed the film in the Uk and Le Pacte distributed the film in France. This film was released firstly in Cannes on the 13th May 2016 and then in the Uk on the 21st October 2016. In the uk around this date is half term, and this will attract people to watch the film because they will have free time around then and will be encouraged to go and watch it. In France the film was released in may and this is during Spring/summer time and so people will be more encouraged
